The challenge:

Catch up with Tatra Banka's main competitors in the corporate banking segment

In 2015, Tatra Banka, part of Austrian banking group Raiffeisen Bank International, was in the market for a vendor to help with delivering on a key strategic goal. That is, developing next-generation digital channels for its business banking customers.

The bank had historically been lagging behind Slovakia's go-to corporate banking provider, Slovenská sporitelña, with an increasingly pronounced gap between the two players. What Tatra Banka needed, however, was more than just an IT vendor.

The solution had to come with robust data analytics capabilities to provide corporate customers with the exact insights they needed to stay on top of their finances and make smarter business decisions.
And do so in a cost-efficient way.

The solution:

A pre-built solution based on Digital Banking Platform as responsive web app

Finshape's Digital Bank OS, fit the bill for this requirement and more.

As a vendor to both RBI and Erste Group Bank AG, Slovenska sporitelña's parent company, Finshape's proven track record of delivering reasonably priced, high-impact banking and data analytics platform solutions was a major draw for Tatra Banka.

This, coupled with our knowledge of the local market, made us the ideal partner for the project. To keep development costs at bay, the bank opted for a responsive web application that works on both Android and iOS devices instead of native apps for every platform.

The result:

Continued growth in the corporate banking segment and savings in operating costs

The implementation project ticked Tatra Bank's boxes for cost-efficiency, speed and impact.

Thanks to Finshape's ready-made solution based on Digital Bank OS, there was no need to build the responsive web application from scratch or deliver builds for different operating systems. This saved the bank plenty of time as well as maintenance costs. Basic functionalities took 9 months to roll out, followed by more advanced ones over the next 12 months.

In the years following the implementation, not only did Tatra Banka see a sharp growth in the number of corporate banking clients but is now perceived on par with its number one competitor in terms of digital banking innovation. In addition, operating costs shrank significantly as customers needed to make fewer branch visits.
