The challenge:

Swap out legacy corporate banking solutions for a more flexible infrastructure, smoother workflows and improved services

By the early 2010s, the bank rolled out internet banking for retail customers to provide them with easy access to their finances. Digital services available to non-retail clients such as municipalities or small and medium-sized enterprises, were much more limited.

The bank's existing business banking solutions, Homebanking and MultiCash, were outdated both from a technical and from a business perspective and offered little to no opportunity for integration with other systems or managing user permissions within an organisation.

The digital banking platform Slovenská sporitelña implemented for retail banking was simply unfit for business use as the needs and preferences of the two audiences were inherently different.

The solution:

Finshape's cloud-based operating system to cover key corporate customer needs and fast-track application delivery

Slovenská sporitelña decided it was time to roll out a comprehensive, cloud-based online banking platform with the potential of it being expanded into a mobile solution further down the line.

The bank's in-house development teams had no bandwidth to deliver on this ambition on their own, given the complexities and nuances of building such software. Not to mention that there were robust, ready-made solutions available, specifically built to address Slovenská sporitelña's digitalisation needs. Digital Bank OS solution, came out on top for more reasons than one.

Due to its component-based architecture, Finshape's solution offered high reliability and flexibility along with easy deployment and shorter testing times. In terms of functionality, it included all the key functions business banking clients needed to manage their accounts, payments, cards and loans as well as an admin console to set up permissions-based user roles and responsibilities.

The result:

Slovenská sporitelňa boosted corporate customer satisfaction, retention, and business agility by improving channel availability, user-friendliness, and interface design.

Following PSD2’s 2018 launch, the bank swiftly integrated account aggregation into its web app, ensuring compliance in two months. In 2019, it became Slovakia’s first to introduce batch payments for business clients, enabling multiple transactions at once.

The web app later evolved into a mobile app for Android, iOS, and Huawei, supported by a new backend for efficient mobile banking data management.

These innovations attracted new business clients and strengthened loyalty among existing ones.
