The challenge:

Achieving the holy grail of good, fast and cheap

Banca Transilvania, BT for short, is Romania’s largest financial institution with a reputation as a digital trailblazer. But in the ever-evolving world of banking, no organisation can afford to become complacent.

In 2020, the bank felt a pressing need to redesign its increasingly outdated mobile banking app, BT24, along with its website frontend to keep up with the times, such as growing customer expectations and changes in brand identity.

BT was seeking a modern responsive design and enhanced user experience, all delivered in fast development cycles, while keeping costs down – and Finshape’s team was up for the challenge.

The solution:

Streamlining development and design for cross-platform efficiency

Finshape decided to rebuild the app from scratch, using Flutter, Google’s cross-platform development framework. This enabled us to create a single codebase that works on both iOS and Android, eliminating the need for separate apps.

As a result, development time and costs were greatly reduced. When it came to the frontend of the website, a simple facelift was sufficient.

Finshape was responsible for both the development and design aspects of the project, coordinating everything from conceptualization to delivery. This helped streamline the process and allowed us to stay on track with our one-year timeline.

The result:

Unified look and easy maintenance

The end result received praise from both the client and its customers, including a rating of 4.2 out of 5 in the App Store. Not only did Finshape successfully meet the project deadline, we did so while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Besides lower costs, the multi-platform development approach resulted in a unified look and an improved and more consistent user experience across different devices.

It also makes maintenance and updates easier, as developers only need to make changes once instead of separately for each platform.
